What is Brown Sugar Milk Bubble Tea?

We all know that the core ingredient for all bubble tea beverages is... tea! With black tea bags used for milk tea variants, to healthy green tea used for fruit options, they’re one of the main ingredients where boba tea gets its name from. But what if we told you there’s a tasty, tea-free alternative out there for you to try?

The next time you consider buying bubble tea, why not opt for the brown sugar milk variant instead?

What is it?

Brown sugar milk tea is made up of three core ingredients; fresh milk, brown sugar syrup and tapioca pearls. It originated, like all boba teas, from Taiwan, and has been a fan favourite ever since. Despite being referred to as a “tea,” it actually has no tea in it whatsoever! Brown sugar milk bubble tea is perfect for anyone who isn’t too keen on tea, but wants the signature boba experience!

It has a smokey caramel flavour, so it is guaranteed to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. It is also often referred to as tiger sugar milk tea, due to the appearance of ‘tiger stripes’ formed as the brown sugar syrup drips down the inside of the glass!

Ingredients and Method

All you need to make brown sugar milk tea is fresh milk, brown sugar syrup and tapioca pearls. Our brown sugar boba tea kits here at Manhua Cha contain the latter two ingredients for you to have the perfect bubble tea experience from the comfort of your own home!

Like with any boba beverage that contains tapioca pearls, you must boil them first before adding them and the syrup into a tall glass. To get the ‘tiger stripe’ effect, tip the glass and spin the syrup around the sides. Finally, add cold milk to perfect your brown sugar milk bubble tea. It’s as simple as that! Also, if you don’t drink dairy milk, you can add any milk or alternative that you wish!

Here at Manhua Cha, we have a range of bubble tea flavours, including brown sugar milk tea. Each kit also comes with instructions on how to make your favourite drink. To view our extensive, yummy range, please visit us here!
